[00:00:00] 12 weeks ago, you showed up. Maybe you didn't even know exactly why. Maybe something in you was just tired. Tired of the patterns, tired of the spirals, tired of feeling like you were doing everything right on the outside and something still wasn't working on the inside. You showed up anyway, and that matters more than you know.
Welcome to Raw Regulation on the Regulated Life. I'm Erica, and this is your final daily somatic episode of our 12 week series on nervous system healing and trauma recovery. I wanna do something a little different today. I don't wanna teach you something new. I wanna honor what you've already learned when you've already moved through what you've already changed.
Even if the changes feel small, even if the patterns still show up, even if you think you haven't done [00:01:00] enough. Because here's the thing, your nervous system knows even when your mind doesn't. Completion is a somatic event. When we acknowledge what we move through, really acknowledge it in the body, we help the nervous system process and integrate the experience.
We close the loop, we signal this chapter is complete. That matters.
Dr. James Pennebaker's research on expressive writing and emotional processing shows that the act of acknowledging and articulating emotional experience has measurable physiological effects, reduce cortisol, improve immune function, and increase sense of coherence and integration.
Integration is not just feeling it, it's a biological event. When we complete a cycle, when we witness ourselves through a process and acknowledge that we've moved through it, we are [00:02:00] literally consolidating nervous system learning.
The Gottman Institute's research on positive sentiment override tells us that the ratio of positive to difficult experiences matters enormously for nervous system resilience. Celebrating its completion of hard work. It is not indulgent. It is neurobiologically intelligent.
I wanna be honest with you about something. I almost didn't include a celebration episode because there's a part of me that is very familiar with the high achiever default. I didn't do enough. I could have gone deeper. There's more work to do, and yes, there's always more work to do.
But the inability to acknowledge what we've already accomplished, that is itself a nervous system pattern. It's the same pattern that keeps us striving without savoring, healing, without integrating, doing, without being.
So today we [00:03:00] savor, we integrate, we be.
This is a somatic completion practice. Short, simple, powerful place. One hand over your heart, take one breath in.
And out.
Now with your hand over your heart, I want you to bring to mind just one thing, one moment, one shift, one small thing that has changed in you over these 12 weeks. Not a big dramatic transformation, just one small true thing.
Maybe you named a pattern you never named [00:04:00] before. Maybe you pause before reacting in the moment where you used to explode. Maybe you asked for what you needed, or let yourself receive care or took your own activation seriously for the first time. One small true thing.
Now, with your hand on your heart, I want you to say out loud if you can, silently if you need to. I showed up for this. say it again. I showed up for this.
Let your body receive that.[00:05:00]
Because you did. You showed up week after week, episode after episode. That is the foundation of the sanctuary, not perfection, showing up. Take one more breath,
and let yourself feel, even for just this moment, that the work you've done is real. It counts. You count.
Use this practice the one hand on the heart acknowledging one true thing practice anytime you finish something hard, a difficult week. [00:06:00] A brave conversation, a therapy session, a season of healing. Completion needs to be acknowledged somatically, not just mentally, the hand on the heart, the breath, the simple words.
These are not small things. They are how you teach your nervous system. That effort is seen, in including by you.
Thank you. Genuinely thank you for being part of this 12 week series. For showing up week after week for the most important work there is.
But I wanna be really clear about something.
This is not a finale. This is a threshold, what we've been doing for 12 weeks. The pattern recognition, the somatic awareness, the nervous system education, that was the foundation.
And starting next week, we are building on it. We are going deeper. The next layer of this work is where [00:07:00] things get genuinely interesting because we're moving from understanding your patterns to working with them at a level where they actually live, not in your thoughts, in your body, in your relational field.
And the places that talk therapy alone can't always reach. We are going into the advanced layer, the somatic layer, the place where real lasting cellular level change happens. And if the last 12 weeks crack something open in you, if you've started to see yourself and your patterns more clearly, you are exactly ready for what comes next.
So stay with me. The regulated life is just getting good. I'll see you on Monday.
