You’re Not Lazy—You’re Dysregulated

Erica: [00:00:00] Feeling stuck or unmotivated? Discover why it’s not laziness but nervous system dysregulation—and learn a simple micro-movement reset to restore your energy and calm.
Welcome to the Inner Sanctuary Raw, where we strip away the filters and talk about what it really takes to heal, regulate, and come home to yourself.
Let's get real for a second. You're not lazy, you're not broken or failing just because getting through the day feels like a fight.
What's happening is deeper than willpower. It's your nervous system stuck in survival mode. When your body feels unsafe, your energy isn't meant for thriving. It's meant for protecting you. That I can't do anything feeling, that's not who you are. That's dysregulation. Plain and [00:01:00] simple.
Picture this, you are pressing the gas pedal on a car, but the emergency brake is still on. It's not that the car can't move, it's that something's holding it back. Dysregulation is that emergency break.
Freeze mode. It feels like procrastination or laziness, or like you just can't get started. But really it's your body's way of saying, I don't feel safe enough to move forward.
So if you've been judging yourself for not doing enough pause and ask, is my body just trying to protect me?
You are not alone in this. So many of us are walking around with that emergency break on wondering why we can't just get moving like everyone [00:02:00] else.
For years, I believed I was just unmotivated. I watched everyone else check off their goals while I sat paralyzed thinking something was wrong with me. I tried forcing myself to hustle, but the harder I pushed, the faster I burned out. It wasn't until I learned that my nervous system was stuck constantly bouncing between fight, flight, or freeze, that I stopped blaming myself.
I wasn't lazy, I was exhausted from surviving. So if you're nodding along, know this, you're not alone. You are not broken. You're just burnt out from living in survival mode.
Let's rewrite that story right now. [00:03:00] You don't need more pressure or another productivity hack. You need regulation tools to tell your body it's safe. Now you can breathe. You can take one small step. That's where real energy comes from. Not from pushing harder, but from feeling safe enough to move.
Let's try something gentle today. No pressure. No doing more. If you can close your eyes, scan your body. Where does it feel heavy, tight, or collapsed? Just pick one area. No need to overthink it.
Now. Give that area the smallest movement possible. [00:04:00] Maybe roll your shoulders an inch. Press your fingertips together, then release unc unclench your jaw, soften it. Whisper to that part of your body. You're safe. You don't have to fight right now.
Take one slow breath in
and let it all go.
Even this small shift tells your nervous system. We're okay. We can move forward when we're ready.
You are not lazy. You are dysregulated and when you start meeting your body where it is, breath by breath, micro movement by micro movement, you'll see that energy [00:05:00] come back.
