When Healing becomes a hiding place
===
Erica: [00:00:00] Healing isn’t about being perfect—it’s about living even while you’re still mending. If you’ve been hiding behind your healing, this is for you.
Welcome back to your sanctuary. Let's just land here together for a moment. Feel the space around you, your living room, a hallway, wherever you are.
Notice the hush, the subtle energy of a new beginning. You've been doing the work, the breath work, the journaling, the therapy sessions. The books, the podcast, the shadow work. You fill notebooks made, vision boards. Listen to every healing meditation you could find, and yet, somewhere deep inside, you're still not letting anyone all the way in.
Still hustling for wholeness. Still avoiding [00:01:00] the parts of you that are messy. The parts that healing never quite made tidy. Maybe there's a familiar ache, longing to be seen just as you are before you're "fixed." Let's get honest, because sometimes even healing becomes a hiding place.
Healing can become another mask .
Another identity to perfect. Another thing to do, right? You swap one addiction for overprocessing. One coping mechanism for spiritual bypassing. You say, I'm just working on myself right now, but what you really mean is I'm afraid to be seen in this in between. You stay in the cocoon, not because you're transforming.
But because it's safer than risking rejection in the light. Sometimes healing feels like a safe hallway, but you [00:02:00] forget that hallways are made from moving through, not living in. But here's the thing, healing isn't meant to be your forever home. It's the hallway, it's the bridge. It's the breath between who you were and who you're becoming.
It is okay to pause here to gather strength, but don't let healing become the reason you stop Spacious, almost like silence living.
Let's pause together this time. No deep breathing, no special technique. Just
notice
where are you holding tension right now?
Scan your body like you're opening a closet door. What's hiding in the corners? Unclench something. Your jaw, your hands, your spine. [00:03:00] Let your body know it's safe to soften. Let the tension melt away, even if it's just a little.
Now whisper to yourself. I'm allowed to live even while I'm still healing
again. I'm allowed to live even while I'm still healing.
You don't have to earn your wholeness. You already belong. Let that truth ripple through your body, like gentle thunder in the distance .
So here's your invitation today. Stop waiting to be fully healed before you let life in. Stop over polishing your pain so no one sees the mess.
Let yourself laugh, love, even stumble [00:04:00] right in the middle of your becoming. You are not your healing. You are not your process. You are a living, breathing, feeling. Soul. Already worthy of joy, of love of being seen right here. Let yourself step out of the hallway and into the living room of your life. Let the light touch the places you've kept hidden.
Let others see you imperfect in progress and still deserving of everything good. You're safe to exhale now. And if this stirs something in you, share it, send it, or just sit with it. We're not hiding here. We're healing forward, and I'll be right here tomorrow.
Remember, you don’t have to wait until you’re fully healed to let life in. Take what resonated today, share it if you need to, and keep [00:05:00] healing forward—one breath at a time.
