Sacred Sunday — Rest Is the Assignment
===
Erica: [00:00:00] Welcome to your Inner Sanctuary.
Today, we’re reclaiming rest—not as a luxury, but as a sacred necessity. Let this be your gentle permission to just be.
Welcome back to your sanctuary. If you've been pushing all week, holding everything together, surviving the chaos, checking every box. I want to invite you into something sacred today. Rest. Not earned, not negotiated, just aloud. Let's begin with one slow reverent breath. Inhale through your nose, hold it.
Feel your belly rise . Exhale out your mouth and let your jaw soften.
Let this breath be your permission slip. Notice the way your body settles even just a little. When you offered a moment [00:01:00] of care.
You've been taught that rest is lazy. That rest is for when everything is done. But here's the truth, everything will never be done. And your body was never built to run without stillness.
Somewhere along the line you started performing peace, instead of actually feeling it, you smile through exhaustion. You say, I'm fine with trembling hands. You keep showing up even when your soul is begging you to slow down. But rest isn't weakness. It's rebellion, it's repair.
It's remembering that your worth is not in your output. You do not have to earn the right to breathe. Rest is not a reward for productivity. [00:02:00] It is the foundation that allows you to be whole. What if you let yourself off the hook just for today? What if you believe that you are worthy, even when you're still. Feel the relief in your shoulders as you let that possibility settle?
Close your eyes, if that feels safe. Imagine yourself lying in a sunlit room . There's nothing to do. No one to be. The air is warm. Still a quiet peace. Fill the space with each inhale. Imagine golden sunlight pouring over you. Soft, gentle healing. With each exhale, feel tension melting away like snow in the sun.
Now picture your body hailed like you're being gently rocked by the earth itself. No [00:03:00] pressure, no performance . Let yourself feel the safety in this moment. Feel the weight of your body supported by the ground. Let your breath be slow, unhurried.
Whisper to yourself. Rest is holy. I am allowed to soften. Breathe that in. Let yourself feel how deeply your body craves this. Let this moment be enough. If your mind wanders gently, come back to the feeling of being hailed supported, safe.
Ask yourself. What would it look like to honor rest as a practice today?
Not just sleep, but soul rest? Maybe it's saying no to one more task. Maybe it's [00:04:00] turning your phone off for a few hours. Maybe it's simply letting yourself be unproductive and being okay with that. Notice what comes up for you. Is there guilt? Resistance? Relief?
Just notice without judgment.
Your nervous system heals in stillness. Your spirit returns in silence . This is your sanctuary and rest is the assignment.
Place your hand on your heart. If that feels comforting.
Feel the warmth of your own touch. Remind yourself I am worthy of rest. I [00:05:00] am safe to slow down. Let that affirmation settle into your body.
You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to be held. You're allowed to stop striving and just be.
Even if it's just for five minutes today, let that be enough. Room by room, breath by breath. Come home to yourself. Carry this softness with you as you move through your day today. And when you're ready, begin to wiggle your fingers and toes. Take a gentle stretch, maybe a. Big, soft sigh.[00:06:00]
And as the music fades . Thank yourself for this sacred pause.
I'll see you tomorrow.
You don’t have to earn your rest.
Come back to this space anytime you forget—rest is the assignment.
